The “White Castle by the Sea” is probably the most imposing building on the North Sea island of Juist. As a health resort built in 1897/98 in just 290 days, after several changes of ownership, after periods of vacancy and decay, the house was extensively and professionally restored for its hundredth anniversary. The beach hotel Kurhaus Juist dominates the image of the island to this day. The glass dome can even be seen from neighboring Norderney and sometimes the reflections of the sunlight on the glass panes highlight the dome like a beacon on the horizon.
