QR-Art

The artistic connection between the real and the digital world.

For several years I have been using QR codes in my art and thus combine analog, physical paintings and sculptures with digital, non-physical content. The combination of a material piece of art in the room and immaterial content opens up an information channel that has been previously unknown in art history: Artists are given the opportunity to not only pass their intended message to the buyer in static form, but also retain control of the digital content. For the buyer of a QR painting or a QR sculpture, this means – if the codes integrated in the motifs refer to a URL within the artist’s sphere of influence – to acquire a work that has surprises in store and can be “read” anew from time to time . That is the reason why I find these possibilities so exciting and use them in my art.
